
Meridian School District will host Parent/Teacher Conferences three times over the next two weeks. Teachers will be available to meet parents by appointment from 4 until 7 PM on Thursday October 21 and Tuesday, October 26. Thursday, October 28, parents may schedule an appointment any time between 8 am and 2:45 PM.

Local fire departments participated this morning in a fire drill at Meridian Elementary School. Teachers and students exit the buildings as classes and line up so teachers can verify everyone is out. Teachers will hold up a green card if all are accounted for or a red one if someone is missing, so they can be found. Administrators will verify everyone is safe. Fire fighters inspected the building to be sure fire doors and other precautions were in place and working.

Meridian School District, 4th Grade (Mrs. Mouser's Class) - Roller Coaster Projects Students had to fill the requirements of a hill and/or a loop with two marbles. One marble sat at the end of the coaster to be knocked into a cup as the other set on the end to show gravity and force.


Students of Meridian School District will not attend Friday October 8 for Teacher In-Service nor Monday, October 11 in honor of Columbus Day.
Students will return to class Tuesday, October 12.


Meridian Elementary's 1st Grade (Mrs. Bushue) - Mrs. Bushue's 1st grade class reads the story Gus Takes the Train. After reading the story, students identified the setting, characters, and plot. Later in the lesson, as a whole group, the class made a story structure anchor chart and created individual story maps.

Meridian District 101 and the Illinois Department of Public Heath are hosting a free Pfizer Covid 19 Clinic on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 from 9 am to 6 pm. Johnson and Johnson and Moderna Vaccines will also be available.

Meridian School District will host LifeTouch Studios Monday, October 18 to take student pictures. Flyers were sent home last week and order forms will go out October 12. Parents may place orders online using the event code provided.

University of Illinois Extension is offering a free Container Gardening Class Tuesday, September 28 from 10AM until Noon. All parents and community members are invited. The classes will be held at 413 31st St. in Cairo, next to Cairo Elementary. To register, call 618-745-5200.
