Here are some photos of our FCCLA members attending a conference at SIU Oct. 25th.
The week was kicked off with an announcement to the elementary students made by Ms. Woodson to explain the purpose of Red Ribbon Week. A large banner was displayed outside of each building. Every door in the elementary building had a wooden Red Ribbon hung on it. Each classroom was given a Class Pledge Poster for all of the students to sign pledging to be drug free. These class posters were hung in
the hallways for parents to see during the parent-teacher conferences and fall festival. All students were given a Red Ribbon bracelet to wear every day of the week for a chance to win prizes. Students also received a daily give-a-way supporting Red Ribbon Week. Students and staff also participated in theme days. Holcim plant generously donated sunglasses to all of the Pre-K students for the sunglass
theme day. Students were able to enter to win daily prizes by not only wearing their Red Ribbon Bracelet but also by participating in both written and art activities. These were displayed in the hallway for the week and at parent-teacher conferences. At the end of the week a grand prize was given to one student in each building. The student council was involved by helping with the daily drawings, escorting the winners to the office and preparing the prize boxes for the next school day. Parents were involved by signing a pledge form with their child and then sending a picture of the parents with their child(ren) holding the signed pledge forms. These families were entered into a drawing for a family prize which consisted of snacks, drinks and sport passes for all home games for the remainder of the school year. Angad Arts Hotel in St. Louis also generously donated a one-night stay including complimentary Wi-Fi and parking for the family prize.
Red Ribbon Week was a great success!!!
